Default I Lost my ghost town, need help finding it!

About 11 years ago, I stopped in a ghost town (I swear it was in NW New Mexico) and wrote my daughter's name on a dollar bill. It was tacked to the wall with hundreds of other dollars. Two years later, I found the same ghost town and wrote my second daughter's name on a dollar bill and tacked it to the wall also. Now, 9 years later, my girls and I are going on a trip out west for spring break and I really wanted to find that same ghost town and stop in again. They've heard the stories, now that their not infants anymore, I would really like to show them. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? It was on my Atlas...a decade ago. Wish I still had that old map!!

I'm starting to think I'm crazy and just imagined the whole thing!! No one has any idea what I'm talking about? I bought honey and cactus salsa, and some super cute tiny little doll house size bottles of tobasco sauce...I'm guessing the town isn't there anymore, but does anyone remember it?

Maybe you're confusing NM with AZ...

Was this a "semi ghost town" with a few folks living there? Sounds like you purchased the items in a small store of some kind. Any more clues will help.

Pumknn, The place you're describing sounds like a place in Arizona, particularly when you mentioned the items you purchased and writing on the dollar bills to be tacked to the wall.
Could you be one state off in your recollections? Tortilla Flat, AZ on the Apache Trail has a gift shop selling all kinds of western kitschy items and the entire place is decorated with dollar bills that tourists have signed and posted on the walls.
Here's a link to their website just in case. Good luck in your quest!

There was a ghost town in the SW corner of New Mexico that had a general store with walls covered with dollar bills that were signed. It Was named Steins. It is evidently closed now. It is right on I-10, and was a great place to stop when I visited. It has a page on this web site........Speedy

I'm thinking it was Stein's...it was on the verge of closing both times I was there. The town didn't have a bar or restaurant, and now that I'm thinking about it, I may have found it on one of the road trips I was taking from Vegas to New Orleans, so I-10 makes sense.

You guys have been great! Thank you for all the help. I was starting to think I was crazy!! Too bad it's closed, would have been fun to take my girls there and show them.
