    Default New Guy Checkin In

Hello from New Hampshire. Just joined and having a look around. I live in central New Hampshire and enjoy the history of poking around old places and imagining what it must have been like many years before. I own a 200 year old farmhouse and spend some of my spare time wandering around Old Hill Village here in NH. Looking forward to finding more local places and making some new friends. Thanks

Welcome, I'll bet there's a lot of old colonial stuff there.

    Welcome!

Have you used a metal detector on your property? Any surface finds? An old barn perhaps?

I have a few years ago but all I found was lots of rusty farm junk. I have dug colonial clay pipe pieces and broken pieces of old blue & white dishes so I know there's old stuff there. The thing about old farmland is the old time farmers had little use for money and were very careful not to lose what little bit they had. They bartered for alot of the things they needed and were fairly self sufficient as well. As far as Hill Village it's a great place to walk the dogs and wander around the main street but like most New England ghost towns, there is nothing remaining except for the cellar holes & the stone walls.
