Default What do you feel about cremation vs. burial?

In my opinion, I believe God wants us to be buried (1 Corinthians 15:35-55) It is the same way with the resurrection of the dead. Our earthly bodies are planted in the ground when we die, but they will be raised to live forever. Our bodies are buried in brokenness, but they will be raised in glory. They are buried in weakness, but they will be raised in strength. They are buried as natural human bodies, but they will be raised as spiritual bodies. For just as there are natural bodies, there are also spiritual bodies. What are your opinion in cremation? What would you choose? Thanks in advance

    Default Cremation seems nice enough...

and there is a lot to be said for green burial... But here I am, just rattling on about a subject that has nothing to do with ghost towns.

    Apologies.

What a great question. I don't want either. Lay my body amongst the rocks in the Dragoons and let my remains nourish whatever critters find it. Hopefully ravens and not coyotes.

Quite honestly, the American Indians burned their dead in quite a celebration. I have chosen cremation with explicit instructions for my family not to spend the exorbitant amounts of money that it costs for all the fancy services and burial. I don't want them grieving over a hole in the ground.

I like that, it's romantic. The old Tibetan Buddist's were real recycliers. The cut up the bodies & then broke the bones so the scavengers could easily make a thorough job of it. That would be OK with me, make danm sure I'm dead first though!

I don't even care about the coyotes, they gotta' eat too.

Burn me. Scatter me from the Togo Cliffs. Have an informal party. Carry on.

I agree! In the bible, He wants us to be buried but there is no specific teaching about cremation though it was practiced in biblical times, but it was not commonly practiced by the Israelites or by New Testament believers.

I more than agree. I'd rather be buried than cremated.
