Looking for suggestions on abandoned locations to photograph in Minnesota. After eight years of photographing ghost towns in North Dakota, we've decided to expand our photography into the land of 10,000 lakes.
Contrary to what we've found in North Dakota -- ghost towns by the fistful -- Minnesota has so many lakes and tourist destinations that many towns which would have collapsed have managed to survive on tourist traffic and resort clientele. So, in short, there aren't as many obvious ghost towns or abandoned locations to photograph.
Does anybody have suggestions? We're interested in towns, but also other types of abandoned locations like mining camps and mines, military installations, logging settlements, and Lake Superior-area abandonment. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
