    Default Mapes, North Dakota

I can't find much in the way of info on this little town, I can just say that it was built along the Great Northern Railroad and was founded in 1883. From there, the only history I can say is that like most other small towns in North Dakota, it has since withered, the post office shut its doors in 1985, and today only approximately 8 people still call Mapes home.

One of the abandoned homes in Mapes:

An abandoned garage, with a boat still inside, long stuck behind the tree:

    Another Mapes abandoned home:

    The former Mapes town hall:

I wonder if the two vehicles in the back of the house in that first pic are abandoned too? Great pics, Fairlane...you're gonna make me homesick! (lol)

As far as I could tell, both of them were. Abandoned cars and trucks littered all the little town I stopped in across the state. I'm sure you'll be even more so once I get around to adding the others places I made it to.
