Default Apex Mine (my 1,000 post)

    Sept. 10, 2011 - Ghost.WA and I hiked to the Apex mine.

Fist off, I would like to give a special thanks to Ghost.WA for inviting me on this wonderful trek...the mine, the artifacts, and the scenery were spectacular!!!

Hiking in from where we parked, we immediately found the ruins of the deisel motor that ran the tram for the mine. Next was the long hike to the mine itself as we started at 2,500 feet, climbing 1,400 feet in grueling 3/4 of a mile treck, and reaching the Apex mine (adit #2) at an elevation of 3,940 feet. There were other mine adits in the area but we did not get to them...we figured we got to the most difficult one to get to so the other ones could be for another day. All in all, we had a marvelous day with a funfilled adventure.

Here is a "public link" to my facebook page where all photos are posted. Click on each photo for captions.

...and a few pics of the mine and area we were in. ENJOY!!!

This was a great hike. Really glad Darin came along. I hope to go back in a couple of weeks and check out a lower adit that we did not have the chance to explore. I also have photos of this hike up at http://www.ghosttownsofwashington.com/Apex_Mine.html.

Wish I could have made it, looks like it was a great adventure! Unfortunately, I had work on Saturday, and my internet's been down, but that's how it is sometimes...

We were sorry that you couldn't make it but there's always a "next time", Fairlane.
