I take it that the forum is no longer up? I get error pages the past two days. I wish I had a bit of a heads up, so that I could salvage the Brill car page so I could put it over here, but now I am not about to re-write all that and find and link the photos. It was a very time consuming post for me at dial-up speed. If the moderator still has the files of his forum and could post it here, I'd be grateful.

You can feel free to join ExploreForums.com if you want, but we have many of the same categories, but we spell out the law regarding metal detecting old ghost towns and historical sites. Some excellent suggestions about building forums and the topics in general. I think it's better to educate those who may try to metal detect old ghost towns instead of sweeping it under the rug though. I once read a book on metal detecting which actually suggested that people should metal detect these areas and I did my best to address the issue in a logical manner explaining why it was wrong in some instances, both legally and ethically. I know your comments were directed at someone else, but I just wanted to post why I thought it's a good idea to have both topics on a single forum. It's a great opportunity to bring both sides together so that each side can understand where the other side is coming from and hopefully reach a positive agreement.

So. Nearly a week has gone by now. What really happened? I'm being asked by several who joined and the question is popping up on other Death Valley forums.

Yup, I was wondering too. About ready to knock the link out of my "favorites" section.

I smell something fishy about its sudden and unannounced disappearance ... At any rate, I joined the above annouced forum yesterday.
