I know that my great uncle, Adolphus W Schreiber (from Pomeroy, Ohio) came to Diamond City, MT in the early 1860's, and later had a mercantile store (with a partner Herman E Gaugler) in Ubet, MT. What I can't seem to verify is that he supposedly won some of the town (Diamond City) in a poker game! And then moved his whole family from Ohio. That included his sister Amelia Sybil who married Jefferson Davis Doggett, the first white child born in Montana.
Once my dad showed me a reference to the poker game in a Montana History Book, but I can't find the reference.
Can anyone help?
