Default Old Mining site near Charouleau Gap (Oracle, Az)

We went out exploring near Charouleau Gap yesterday and wanted to share a neat discovery. We found a cool old (relative) mining site that wasn't on any map. Here's some pictures of the place:

    Old wheel

    Building

Door reverting back to its original state

    Lot's of stonework

It looked like the place was run until the 60's or 70's?? The road (term used loosely) to get out there was overgrown and it didn't appear had been traveled for years. High-clearance 4WD required, not for the timid or inexperienced. I hope to post more information on this place (I am trying to find out more history on it) to my website soon.

Nice find there. I hadn't heard of this before, did you find the mine itself? You really find some obscure places.

Looks like the Oracle area is becoming an active mining area again with the opening of the Oracle Ridge mining property & others, hiring some 200 underground miners now.

    Vulture,

Yes, we found a few mines in the area. There's some really cool stuff out there waiting to be found!

This is so neat! I grew up in oracle and have seen some of the hidden gems around the area.

I haven't been able to find any more info on the site. We went back there in November and found a few more places including an old pump house, well, stone bridge abutments (bridge is gone) and dump.
