: a unique overnight stay at Gold Point. We were Sheriff Stone's

: first (and only) official "B&B" overnight visitors.

: Our host "Sheriff Harold T. Stone" was quite attentive

: and eager to show us the hidden treasures of the town,

: of which he owns (I believe) about 1/3. He gave us a

: moonlight tour of Gold Point the night we arrived.

: The town is well preserved and "Mr. Stone" (also known

: as "Herb&quot has done a good job of keeping it that way.

: Many buildings (particularly the post office and

: mercantile) still hold many original items and Herb has

: replenished other buildings with items from that era.

: It was one of the most interesting tours I have ever

    : experienced.

: Herb has refinished several outbuildings for overnight

: guests that we found to be clean and comfortable.

: There is no running water in the rooms but there is

: a "portable lavatory" and bottled water. Herb graciously

: also offers the shower and bathroom of his home for use

    : by guests.

: You have the choice of staying overnight with or without

: meals included (no nearby stores mind you!). Food is served

: in Herb's home where he prepared a good dinner of roast beef,

: vegetables and homemade bread. In the morning it was a hearty

: breakfast of eggs, cheese and sausage with toast.

: All in all this was an interesting experience. The town is

: worthwhile of a trip but be prepared to spend time there,

: Herb is a wealth of knowledge and an enthusiastic host.

: He also give tours of other ghost towns and mines.

: I would recommend this as an overnight trip to those interested

: in a unique and rustic experience.

    : Happy Ghost-Towning, Charlotte Ambrose

: : We stopped in Belmont a few years ago just as

: the B&B was about to open... we've missed it twice

: now... then and Christmas. We plan on going back

: one day... we love that area. Did you stay overnight?

: Would you recommend it? Happy Camping, Charlotte
