: The "Land of Enchantment" covers 121,365 square miles, and a bazillion ghost towns. You could start at the NM page at this site, which is broken down into grids, then check out what may be of interest to you. From there, group them together so you can plan your trip. According to this webmaster, NM has the worst record for maintaining historical towns/sites, and lots of places have very little remaining, except for a few crumbling foundations. However, there are still many places left to make the trip worthwhile. That's the main reason to check out the NM page. Shakespeare, Steins, and Pinos Altos, in the SW, are OK, but Shakespeare is open by appointment only, or was.
