    Default location of Neal, Idaho

trying to find Neal, Idaho listed in the Ada county section of the site. I can't seem to find it on the maps anywhere to be able to reference roads to access it. (this method worked for other places like Wickahoney).

Any one have any ideas. I might need to just drive around the couple mile radius and see what I come across.

    I have this info:
Neal (Ada). T2N R4E sec 29. Ghost town.
Arthur Neal discovered gold here in 1889, just over the summit from the Upper Blacks Creek Road. The mine dumps are at the head of the valley.

    Hope this helps, George.

Utilizing the township location along with the map overlay feature of www.historicmapworks.com, I was able to find the approximate location of what was likely the site of this community.

    Visible here: https://maps.google.com/maps?q=43.48...num=1&t=h&z=15

    Regards,

    I know that spot....
The brown rusty barn used to be in the background photo of all the Idaho
    drivers licenses.

There is also a mine adit up the road at 43 30.317'N 115 54.212'W
It's a fun place to check out on the way to Prairie.

Remember a township can vary in size. Usually they are 6 miles by 6 miles. Still allows for a lot of space to cover. I think the clue in the description above is that it is just over the summit of Blacks Creek Road, also the tailings are at the end of the valley. If you look on a map I am sure you could find the summit and go from there.

Danbo, I think you are close to Neal with those coordinates. Point A is the summit of Blacks Creek Road. Point B is the closest valley that I can see that looks promising. This is just a bit north of your coordinates. If you zoom in some you can see some structures that look to be in sad shape. I may have to take a trip there myself.

By the way, ACME mapper is great for finding Ghost towns and referencing. I like it better than google map because for me it responds much faster.

    Hi ghcoe,
That's a fun spot too. Awhile back I was given the honor
of hiding the "Geo-Stash" marker for 4X4 and Sport Utility magazine.
    http://www.4wdandsportutility.com
    I hid it at 43 30.571'N 115 55.062'W ( the place you describe )

The ruins ( marginal as they are ) strike me to be semi-modern.
There was a lot of modern trash and camper/trailer debris.
I have no idea what they mined or milled there.
Another cool place to check out.

It's a small world after all. Some day we may bump into each other out there.....
