I'm trying to track down the early history of Totavi, NM, which is just down the hill from Los Alamos. I have some hints that Totavi was established as a construction camp by Lowdermilk Brothers Construction Co. when it improved the road from the Rio Grande to Los Alamos in 1943. However, that story is not well substantiated. Please let me know if you have more info. There's a great Totavi page on this site that shows that the "town" was operating in 1946. All the input there is from Gordon Scott. If you know how to reach Mr. Scott, please let him know that I'd like to contact him.
