    Though it's not a ghost town, this former mining town has many historic buildings, great scenery, and a chance to tour an authentic gold mine from the 1870s.

    There is also the old jail building, and the mine tour is pretty good, too! The apple pies are to die for, and the 1890's Julian Hotel is a great place to stay.
