: Death Valley is a very special place with the assorted awesome geology and ghost towns and mining camps. We have spent the 9 off days at Thanksgiving for the last 8 years there (and usally come back in the spring also), we have not run out of areas to explore. My wife enjoys boldering and exploring the narrows in the many canyons, while I enjoy seeking out the many mining camps. This last Feb. we hiked (6 miles r.t.) to the Ashford Mine, this is a neat site worth exploring with 3 cabins, an outhouse, and a tramway that disapears up an mountain. The road is accross from the ruins of the Asford mill that most people stop to see.

: There are many neat little canyons that contain obscure lost mines that beckon to be explored.



: We truly love this "Valley of Death" and highly reconmend it to other ghost town explorers.



: If you go there be sure to kick off your shoes and climb to the top of the highest sand dune for one heck of a view.
